An animated gif of the smiling artists, two people named Hannah and Nemo, tossing cans over their shoulders, onto a grey square board on a white wall behind them. Using editing, the tossing of cans appears to "magically" create a rainbow colored moving mosaic artwork in place of the grey board behind the couple.

HELLO! WE ARE HANNAH & NEMO.

Once upon a time, there was a quirky couple who both went to architecture school…

After spending years as cad-monkeys and staring at spreadsheets, we realized we had been duped by our design educations. Feeling let down by the corporate world and lack of opportunities for creativity, we left to pursue our dream of living slow and tiny.

For a decade we lived in our camper van while traveling state to state on the art festival circuit. We met folks from all walks of life, and spent many a night in parking lots and back country roads. We developed our aluminum can Moving Mosaics® into carefully handcrafted transformations representing our progressive values and desire for effortless earth stewardship.

We have poured our creative hearts into being authentic, engaging, and entertaining social media content creators working with TikTok for Good, Ball Aluminum Cup, and Drink Spindrift to inspire people to view waste as a resource while reminding them to treat the planet and everyone on it with dignity and respect.

More than anything, we want everything we create, but especially our Moving Mosaics®, to help you slow down, take a deep breath, and notice the little things in life, so that you will feel less distracted by the troubles of our world, and more inspired to treat yourself and the earth well.

For me, I was grateful to be able to purchase a piece after following you guys for sometime. I stumbled upon you and thought that what you do is super creative and beautiful, but also simplistic in a way that makes it even more beautiful. Then when you couple that with just who you guys are as humans makes it feel all the more connected and, important. I think it’s hard to find a connection to artist and with who you guys are what you do and how you are transparent and supportive of so many communities, it actually feels like you do know the artist and can support them and I love all of it combined 💗

  • Laura

I love that it is a visual way to see something invisible, such as wind and air currents. I love the color gradients. I love it from a reuse and sustainable materials perspective. I love that it's humans in a relationship that co-create together. I love that it's intentionally slow art. I love the community connections with "you've sent cans." I'm on the spectrum, and colors can have deep emotional impacts on me that range from wanted to unwanted emotions, and your color choices are always both soothing and engaging.

It’s the movement and sparkle and shimmer that catches my attention and the best way to describe what’s happening in my brain is it feels like all the noise and anxiety and feelings of sadness and overwhelmingness? just… shuts off for a moment. It’s comforting and mesmerizing and relaxing, very much like looking at light bouncing off ripples of water in a gentle wake. I have AuDHD so I imagine there’s definitely some type of burst of serotonin or steady trickle of dopamine that goes off every time I come across your work

  • Von

When I first saw your artwork I was mezmerized, like a crow looking at a shiny object! 😂 I have been saving to buy one. I thought I wanted the all silver art, but missed that. The rainbow 🌈 art came up and I bought that. It is hung next to my bed and I love looking at it. It brings such a peace to my room. I'm glad I missed the silver and got a Rainbow! The colors, especially when they shimmer, just make me feel happy. I think its brilliant that you make it out of recycled materials. 💙

  • JM

I love when creative minds find incredible new ways to create something from other things. Obviously great for the planet but mainly I just love the creativity to see one thing no one might consider art as potentially some other greater thing. I love the movement as it reminds me of glitter and sparkles. I adore textures in art. I can’t wait to own one!!

  • FG

First, the fact that you repurpose a material to give it a new life that involves beauty. Cans can be recycled, but that’s just a practical use, cold and distant. But, to use them for art the way you do it, is to appeal to the senses, whether the viewer realizes it or not. Also, the way you make your artwork is, in my opinion, a way to reflect that there’s life around it. For me, wind is life and, weather your art pieces move because there’s wind from outside, from a fan or because someone walked in front of them, it’s reacting because there’s some life around it and produce some kind of communication in the form of movement and sounds.

  • Shana

For me it's looking at your art and listening to it brings the same sense of calm and relaxation that watching fish in a fish tank or staring into the flames of a campfire has. It's mesmerizing.

  • Emily

I love the art and I love art in all forms. I came to your page from that initially, but I appreciate your way of life and the way you navigate this particular period of life. Your relationship as a couple and how you honor each other and stay true to your way / methods/ of living

  • Vanessa

Your work is incredible! For me, there is such an interesting contrast between something that is made using a metal and the light and delicate feel of the pieces. I think there is something counterintuitive about it that mesmerizes my brain.

  • Lauren

I was immediately taken by your art when it came up in my feed. It brought joy. It brought smiles. And after reading the back story it brought meaning. How you are able to integrate the purpose of sustainability across your creativity makes magic! I consider myself very fortunate to have a piece in my home and not only is it mesmerizing but we find ourselves stopping for a blow and shimmer as we walk by. It begs interaction that brings a smile and will continue to do so.❤️
